Regular meetings of the Fremont Township Board are held on the 2nd Monday of the month
at 7:00 pm in the Fremont Township Office at 5980 South Hemlock Road.

FYI: What determines if a general law township is required to publish its minutes in a newspaper?
MCL 41.72a, Public Act 465 of 1996, exempts general law townships with a taxable value under a threshold value from the requirement of publishing the minutes of its board meetings in a newspaper. Pursuant to PA 465, the Michigan Department of Treasury has determined that for 2023, the adjusted amount is $104 million.

FYI: What is the definition of a newspaper suitable for publication of Notices to Residents?

MCL 600.1950(1) defines what constitutes a newspaper under the law.  It states: The term "newspaper" is limited to a newspaper published in the English language for the dissemination of local or transmitted news and intelligence of a general character or for the dissemination of legal news, which has a bona fide list of paying subscribers or has been published at not less than weekly intervals in the same community without interruption for at least two years, and has been established, published, and circulated at not less than weekly intervals for at least one year in the county where the court is situated.

BUDGET MEETINGS

The Fremont Township Board of Trustees will meet to discuss the proposed township budget for fiscal year 2024 at the Fremont Township Hall, 5980 S. Hemlock Rd, Hemlock Michigan on the following dates:


The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of the Workshop and Hearing.

ELECTION COMMISSION

The Fremont Township Election Commission meets before each election at the Fremont Township Hall, 5980 S. Hemlock Rd, Hemlock Michigan.  The commission meets immediately preceding the closest regularly scheduled board meeting before the election.

The most recent meeting was Monday, January 8, 2024 at 6:45 pm

The next meeting will occur in July preceding the 2024 General Primary Election or earlier if notified by the County Clerk of an upcoming special election.

PLANNING COMMISSION

The Fremont Township Planning Commission meets regularly on a quarterly basis on the 3rd Thursday of the 3rd month of each quarter at 7:00 pm in the Fremont Township Office at 5980 S. Hemlock Road.
