Audrey Beedle,  a representative from EDP Renewables,  was present at the March 21, 2024 Planning Commission Meeting and notified the Chair of the Planning Commission that an application for a Special Use Permit for a Solar Development in Fremont Township has been finalized by EDP Renewables and is being printed for delivery to the Planning Commission members.  The Chair asked Ms. Beedle if representatives from her company could present the application to the Planning Commission at a public meeting in which representatives from EDP Renewables would provide a general overview of the scope of the application so that planning commission members could  become familiar with all components of the application.  A Planning Commission meeting to receive the application was scheduled for April 18, 2024 at 7pm in the Fremont Township Hall.   Ms. Beedle further stated that her company plans to hold a public forum at the Township Hall to provide information and answer questions once the application delivered to the Planning Commission is found complete and is accepted for review.

The documents below have been provided to Fremont Township by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).  The letter and maps are posted here to share information about discussions between the Michigan Department of EGLE and EDP Renewables regarding the EGLE Permitting Requirements for a proposed utility scale solar development in Fremont Township. These documents have not been produced, reviewed or approved by Fremont Township, but are provided for general information to residents.  As noted in the legend, the maps DO NOT represent the final development plan for this proposed project. They were created to facilitate discussion of permitting requirements between Michigan Department of EGLE staff and EDP Renewables employees.  A Final Proposed Development Map is required to be provided by EDP Renewables to the Fremont Township Planning Commission when EDP Renewables submits an application to Fremont Township for a Solar Farm Special Use Permit.  A FINAL PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT MAP will be shared on this website and available for review at the township office once it has been received.
